What Should I Wear?
As far as your wardrobe is concerned, it's best to keep clothing simple, avoiding logos and excessive patterns. I always suggest layers/textures and fun accessories. For family sessions, choosing one or two outfits with patterns and then pulling the rest of your color palette from there works really well. In group photos, color coordinating is always more pleasing to the eye but don't feel like you have to be super matchy. Just have fun with it and wear clothes that represent your personality and style. And, please don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help! I'm always available to give helpful hints or suggestions or point you in the right direction. For more info on what to wear feel free to check out my style board here.
What Should I Bring?
For sessions with little ones definitely think about bringing outfit changes, a drink, favorite toy, snacks, and a special stuffed animal or blanket. Please make sure your child has been fed and had a nap before the photo session for a more comfortable and positive experience. For all other sessions please feel free to bring a favorite quilt or blanket, outfit changes if you need them and water if it's during the warmer months.
Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?
The location of the photo session is totally up to you! Of course I do always have a studio available downtown as well. I am available for travel sessions and would love to accommodate your location of choice, however sessions outside of the greater Indianapolis area will incur a travel fee of 60 cents per mile round trip. Once your session date is booked we will discuss what type of feel you are looking for in your photographs and work together to come up with the perfect location. Lifestyle family and newborn sessions are always held within the comfort of your own home.
What time of day is best to begin our session?
I prefer to shoot most of my sessions during "golden hour" or 1-2 hours before sunset. That's the magic time of day when we'll get those beautiful glowy backlit images. I understand that time of day doesn't always work with little ones but if you can get your kiddos to take a late nap the day of the session I promise you won't regret it!
When will I receive my photos?
I will begin posting previews of your session on Facebook within 1-2 days. After two weeks you will receive an e-mail notifying you that your session is ready to view and download. You will be given instructions for accessing and downloading the gallery to your computer or device and retain full printing rights to your photos. Because you have the printing rights to your photos you can print anywhere you'd like however I highly recommend using mpix.com. They are an affordable and professional printing lab that will yield the very best results in color, tone, and overall quality.
What kind of equipment do you use?
My main body is a Nikon D750 and my backup is a D600. I shoot 90% of my work with a 35mm 1.4 Sigma Art lens but sometimes throw in a few additional shots with these lenses from my arsenal: 70-200mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 16-28mm 2.8.
