On Saturday we photographed our last October wedding and we topped it off with a fantastic one. The weather was absolutely beautiful with highs nearing 80 degrees and sunshine for days. Stefany + Curtis got married at the rustic and charming Hidden Brook Acres in Shelbyville which is also where we photographed their e-session last winter. I don't always have a chance to do both an e-session and wedding at the same location but it's always so special when it happens. Before Stefany + Curtis had their First Look they exchanged gifts; a watch for Curtis and a black & teal (her favorite color) handgun for Stefany. I think the gifts alone can attest to how well the two of them balance each other out. ;) I loved seeing Stefany's face as she opened her gift, totally surprised but ridiculously excited just the same. After we shot the bridal portraits the guests began arriving and the ceremony soon followed. And, just like their gifts to one another, the ceremony was tailored to suit their personalities as well. Instead of sand or candles, Stefany and Curtis used dirt from their childhood homes for their unity tree. What a cool idea, right? After they said "I do," the whole bridal party headed out for a hay ride around the countryside. Stefany & Curtis told me that they just wanted to have a few moments away with their favorite people, hanging out and cutting up before heading into the reception. Weddings go by in a blink and I think it's so important to carve out some time, even if it's just a few minutes, where you can relax and be yourself without an audience or an agenda. Thank you so much for including us in your big day, Stefany & Curtis! Enjoy the preview!
