On Saturday, Heidi and I headed down to beautiful Brown County for the Beckley-Roach wedding. I don't know if you've had the chance to see Brown County in the Fall before but it's probably one of the most beautiful places in the state to witness the changing of the leaves. We were right at the beginning of that change so the leaves were just starting to bleed from green into yellow and orange. Lindsey & Lex rented a log cabin for the weekend and stayed in separate quarters until it was time for their first look. And, seriously as far as First Looks go this one was a good one. There were tears from both sides as the emotional weight of their big day began to sink in. Lindsey was absolutely stunning in her vintage inspired bridal gown and gold leaf accents. And, Lex of course was handsome as can be with his perfectly tailored suit and signature hairstyle. ;) After their first look they exchanged gifts; Lindsey's gift symbolized that she accepted Lex for who he is, Hawaiian shirt collection & all, and Lex's gift tallied the number of days from their first date up until their wedding date by framing sweet mementos that brought Lindsey to tears. They were both so thoughtful and perfect and I'm always incredibly honored to share these private moments with my couples. Soon after they exchanged gifts we headed up to the breathtaking ceremony venue at the edge of a lookout only to realize the weather had other plans for the day. Luckily the reception was being held inside so we moved everything to the shelter and executed Plan B. It's never easy when you have to shift your vision around and account for the unexpected but Lindsey did so with such grace and poise it was evident that the only thing that truly mattered at the end of the day was looking her best friend in the eye and saying 'I do.' After the ceremony the new husband & wife splashed around in rainy puddles for their first dance, smashed cake in each other's faces, and celebrated with their closest friends and family while it rained and stormed outside. If rain couldn't bring them down on the most important day of their lives, I doubt much can. Congratulations, Lindsey & Lex! Enjoy your preview and have an amazing honeymoon in Jamaica!
