Last week we officially kicked off wedding season. Heidi and I are both Purdue alumnae (the feminine plural for alumni, totally googled it) but have never done a campus wedding before. So, when Kate + Avery's wedding came along we were thrilled to finally get a chance to shoot on campus. We lucked out in having a late Spring because the trees on campus had only just begun to come alive and there were flowers literally everywhere. The Magnolia tree in front of the Union was just begging for me to stick a bride underneath it and Kate was the perfect complement to its peach blooms. Since Kate and Avery chose not to do a First Look, the first time Avery saw his bride was as she walked down the aisle. And, goodness was his face priceless! The ceremony was a beautiful Catholic mass at St. Thomas Aquinas and ended with a traditional bagpipe player serenading the newlyweds as they walked back up the aisle. After the ceremony we hopped on a party bus and knocked out bridal portraits at all of their favorite spots, including of course, Harry's. We even got special permission to venture into the South Tower of the Union for some killer vintage window light. The entire building is gorgeous so you really can't go wrong anywhere you end up! Afterwards, the reception began with some sweet toasts, a beautifully choreographed first dance and a surprise visit by Purdue Pete. Yes, THE Purdue Pete. Kate's Mom wins all of the awards for coordinating that surprise! It was truly an incredible day and Heidi and I couldn't have been more honored to document it. Soak up all of the sun, unlimited drinks and room service on your tropical Honeymoon and enjoy this preview while you're at it. Congrats again, Kate + Avery!
