Heidi and I photographed another amazing wedding on Saturday up at Pokagon State Park. Nicole and Patrick live in San Francisco but had their wedding back in Angola which seemed like a happy medium between Northern Indiana and Ohio where most of their families are from. They had the wonderful idea of making their wedding more like a Summer camp and invited their friends and family to come up early and participate in all of the typical camp activities like kayaking, campfires and even a talent show. Honestly, I had a bit of FOMO, it all looked like so much fun! Our part began Saturday afternoon when we arrived on the campgrounds to begin photographing the two of them getting ready for their big day. Nicole looked absolutely stunning in her Maggie Sottero gown and rocked that vintage vibe so hard. Patrick looked equally amazing in his custom made suit by Tailors' Keep that fit him like a glove. I'm not a guy but if I was I think getting a suit custom made would be the way to go on your wedding day. You can always wear it again so just think of it as an investment, right? :) The two of them chose not to do a first look so after we wrapped up a few portraits Nicole was hidden away until she walked down the aisle and saw her groom for the very first time. And, goodness Patrick's reaction as Nicole walked down the aisle was priceless. I mean, it WAS really hot that day so it could have been sweat but I'm like 90% sure there were tears. ;) What a vision you were, Nicole! The ceremony was beautiful and included words and songs from some of their favorite people and ended with their personal vows to one another. Once we got everyone out of the sun and knocked out bridal portraits the party kicked off with Nicole & Patrick's first dance to The Flamingos. Amidst all of the schmoozing, and eating, and dancing however Nicole took a moment to sit down and just enjoy the music being played by her uncle and childhood piano teacher. It was a breath of fresh air I'm sure for her and I hope all of my couples take a page from her book and take a minute to stop and breathe it all in during the beautiful chaos of the day. Congratulations to you both! We were so honored to be a small part of your big day.
