Heidi and I photographed our last June wedding on Saturday at the Ritz Charles in Carmel, Indiana. Katharine & Alex are currently living in St. Louis but (lucky for me!) they decided to celebrate their big day back in Indianapolis where Alex is from. Based on the crazy hot temps we've been having I expected Saturday to be incredibly hot but we really lucked out and had a typical Indiana Summer day in the 80's. When I arrived to the venue I immediately fell in love with the gorgeously minimalistic chapel with a clean white interior and modern lines. It was perfect for the two of them because their style is classy with a bit of a no fuss mentality mixed in. After knocking out a few details shots, Katharine and her bridesmaids arrived with smiles on their faces despite having to juggle a few curve balls thrown their way. We got Katharine into her dress and sent her out to meet Alex for their First Look. Smitten is a word that comes to mind when I think of how these two look at one another. Their love seems easy and comfortable and expected. It's so neat watching Alex's calm presence mix with Katharine's spontaneity creating the perfect balance between the two of them. During the ceremony they honored Alex's heritage with their chalice and the traditional Breaking of the Glass. I've always thought everyone shouting "Mazel Tov!" is the best way to end a wedding because there's such a joy and finality to it. After greeting their guests, Katharine and Alex started off the reception with a cocktail hour and slid into dinner, dances and toasts from some of their favorite people. The food was amazing, the cake was incredible and they really just don't come sweeter than Alex + Katharine. Congratulations, you two! Thank you so much for trusting us to document your big day we had the very best time.
